Group Work

Discuss the solutions that can be hand-over to the Sri Lankan cricket board to improve the quality of cricket.

Identifying the Problem

Our team started by analyzing the problem and identified several factors that have contributed to the decline of Sri Lankan cricket. These factors include former and present players, facilities, and arbitrary decisions of the cricket board.

Proposed Solutions

After identifying the problem, our team proposed several solutions to improve the quality of Sri Lankan cricket. The following are some of the proposed solutions:

     1.     Creating Good Facilities for Every School

One of the key solutions proposed by our team was to create good facilities for every school. This will not only improve the quality of cricket at the grassroots level but also help identify and nurture talent from a young age. It is essential to provide quality facilities that enable young players to hone their skills and develop into world-class cricketers.

2.     Promoting Transparency

Our team also suggested promoting transparency in the operations and decision-making processes of the cricket board. This will help build trust and confidence among players and stakeholders and ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of Sri Lankan cricket. Transparency will enable stakeholders to understand how decisions are made and why they are made, which will promote accountability and prevent arbitrary decisions.

3.     Seeking the Guidance of Former Players

Another solution proposed by our team was to seek the guidance of former players. These former players have a wealth of experience and knowledge that can be leveraged to develop and improve the skills of the current crop of players. The former players can provide mentorship and guidance to current players, which will enable them to learn from the experiences of the past.

4.     Building up Unity Among Players

Finally, our team proposed building up unity among players. This can be achieved through team-building activities, promoting a positive team culture, and encouraging players to support and learn from one another. Building up unity among players will improve team spirit and foster a sense of belonging, which will translate into better performance on the field.

Learning outcomes

1.     Importance of teamwork: The fact that the team had members with varying levels of knowledge about cricket highlights the importance of teamwork. Despite the challenge, the team was able to come together, share their ideas, and propose solutions to the problem.

2.     Importance of problem clarification: Before delving into solutions, the team first clarified the problem at hand. They were able to agree on the failure of Sri Lankan cricket, which helped them focus on identifying the factors that contributed to the decline.

3.     Importance of analysis: The team analyzed the problem from various angles and identified multiple factors that contributed to the decline of Sri Lankan cricket. This analytical approach is essential in problem-solving.
